A reply to @letsasksekisensei How would a Samurai Master Fight with a Longsword?
Переглядів 11 тис.7 місяців тому
As I got asked by a few folks to comment on this, and as I enjoy watching Shogo and Seki Sensei anyway, I took to a chill rooftop, behind a noisy London street to record some thoughts on their video about the Longsword. Thanks to Ioana for saving the sound:) x You can join us at the academy here: Londonlongsword.com Enquiry@londonlongsword.com
The TV Fight that never was.

There was to be a fight for the @BBCOne It didn’t happen (no major conspiracy, lots of enthusiasm, Just circumstance getting in the way). But here is the free rolling we sent them. No thrusts from me as this was to be done in armour (eyes an issue) but Jack didn’t know that yet:) A slight note about the edit, I cut it short at the end, as the video that followed gave the impression that I may h...

Marozzo two handed sword…with added cat.
Переглядів 1,9 тис.9 місяців тому
Running through a little Achille Marozzo with my custom @malleusmartialis two handed. Plenty of flex in this blade and it makes you work for that sweet edge alli. And Bruce, has, impeccable timing. #hema #fencing #spada #longsword #achillemarozzo #londonlongswordacademy #londonlongswordfamily #learnswordfighting #london #cat #batman

A reply to my mate Matt. As with all discourse, I ask you to look at the validity of the components of each argument, both contain truth.:) If you want to come try one of our 13 plus lessons each week, including the aforementioned Girard Thibault send an email to enquiry@londonlongsword.com And for the at least one pedant who is going to go “nhhhhh you are holding your rapier upside down, Thiba...
Kölner Fechtregeln, going in blind!
Переглядів 1,6 тис.11 місяців тому
From a private lesson. The request was to review certain plays from the Kölner Fechtregeln treatise, a very short work. I has two hours in which to digest, find specific and unique meanings for each strike and guard, and bring them into interpretation. Here is the result of those two hours. If you are family with the treatise I welcome your comments, if you are not, you can read it here: wikten...

I understand your concerns on the balance, you can only review what you get. But at least the pommel is beefy and heavier. One could easily draw a decorative twist or flutes on that pommel and go at it with an angle grinder. A few ounces off that, and your balance issue is fixed, and you’d have a custom sword.
Really quite refreshing to hear that thought at the end.
while you guys partied, I studied the blade(s)
That is a great explanation but finding someone who is an expert in the katana so there can be a comparative blow for blow would clarify a lot.
Is tods stuff for practical combat use? Good thick full tangs? Tip retention?
He has an incredible unhardened stiletto as if it was out of a dream but i want a dagger that can hold up to real combat. Is an unhardened thrusting dagger a wall hanger?
braum without his shield ? sup diff
Wheres the hammer to go with it?
Nice!
Sickle fighting looks sick! Sorry, I had to!
His maces are a fuckin joke of a weapon. Idk about his swords though tbh.
Is there a special attachment to hold the sword for that light stand?
👏👏👏💎💎💎
This moustache seems trustworthy. It is settled than. Guns beat swords in 99.9% from distance greater then 10m.
Aside from your expert talk, I would just like to say, from one moustachio'd man to another, kudos to you, my good man.
isn't 30mmx30mm shaft they recommend a bit, narrow? what you have doesn't seem like it, what I got is kind of, pathetic.
Seriously. I just bought big on Tod's stuff, last night. I was having a heart attack about your big revelation! 🤣
I really hope this doesn't come off badly, as I'm only saying this to maybe be helpful and bring awareness, but, are you aware that, just with what's in this video, you've effectively doxxed yourself? I feel like I shouldn't say that, but at the same time, you might not realise and wish you had
Size don't matter, in other words ...
I absolutely love this sword design. Very bolognese. May Marozzo look down upon you and smile
I started saber fencing when i was 11 years old, three months into it, my first blade broke from a swing against another saber. These are quite impressive springs that you can usually bend more than 90 degrees but sometimes it just happens.
I laughed out loud
do u sleep with ur sword too?

just use it inside: top level precision and dexterity training!

Hahahaha!
It’s called dark souls. Your welcome
Wrap it in cling film?
Its ok greatsword, we can play tomorrow!
So wait, you got someone to go out into the rain so they could film you looking outside looking sad?
long swording in the rain, do it
I know this feeling so well... I think I've done this myself once or twice.
I know the feeling. Snow finally stopped but now its been raining for the last 3 weeks and all I wanna do is play with my swords in the back yard (or garden i belive you all call it on that side of the pond)
Longsword understands that you are protecting them from rust. If it's any consolation, it's equally wet here in the Chicago suburbs, and Saint Stanley (the horse) is also unhappy about it being sodden.
Fair weather fencers 🥱
When is it not raining in England
I was about to say today it isn't raining, but the forecast says there'll be rain in the afternoon...
Tuesdays most times
Defender 1: "They're coming over the hill"! Defender 2: "Yeah, but it's raining".
War doesn't wait for the rain to stop.
BEAUTIFUL, a thing of beauty is a joy forever. Cheers
Don’t tell anyone you leveled up DEX
As somebody who's not very good at learning directly from the mss, I find there's a dearth of good introductory dussack/messer material out there. That makes this less easy than it could be. Have you considered doing a video going over what you teach in those demos you mention?
Hm, but wouldnt that throw away the range bonus of the rapier only for the chance of the blade beeing broken by the two-handed sword? And if in range, shouldnt the two-handed sword have all the advantages on its side? Or would you say, that even so, the risk of the rapiers blade to be broken is just two high? But then, why have the rapier even been invented in the first place? 🤔
Hello David, what brand of Sideswords are you wielding on this video?
Wow, so many different styles & classes! London Longsword Academy sounds incredible
That thing is terrifying.
The scars on my hand and forearm would agree with your assessment 😅
sooo to the argument about wards being displayed too low too high or precise in i.33 people/or wankers ...seem to overlook the time in which it was produced and by whom. This is an era when perspective drawing was in its infancy. Simply by the fact that it is such an early representation voids any argument of "i.33 shows it precisely in angle X" . Having a background in history really helps putting these fencing manuals into perspective. Basically the images in i33 are like posing for your 8-12 year old and asking him to draw what he sees. We are still HUNDREDS OF YEARS away from 17th century precise drawing techniques!
